2006 Indiana’s Future Conference

Because today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce, high schools serve as a pipeline for economic growth in Indiana.  To highlight this connection between education and economic development, current Indiana “success stories” and emerging opportunities, CELL hosted the second annual conference, Indiana’s Future: World-Class Schools for the 21st Century—Leadership, Learning & the Global Economy in November 2006. Drawing more than 550 educators, policy makers and community and business leaders from across the state, Indiana’s Future provided the resources, information and action steps necessary to implement the changes needed to give Indiana a competitive edge in today’s global economy.

Working to bring the world to Indiana, the conference built leadership capacity through networking and cutting-edge information shared by international, national and local experts on education and economic strategies. To equip leaders with the information and tools to prepare all students to graduate with the skills needed for success in a 21st-century global environment, Indiana’s Future emphasized the importance of implementing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), connecting global ideas to local communities, and ensuring equity for all students.
